At TROO Hospitality, we believe that great hospitality goes beyond the guest experience. It’s about how we operate, how we think long term, and the impact we have on our people, our communities, and our environment.
This International Earth Day, we’re taking a moment to reflect on our approach to sustainability, not as a single initiative, but as a continuous, considered way of working. Sustainability, for us, is about doing the right things consistently, and building a responsible, resilient future for our hotels and the communities they are part of.
A Framework for Long-Term Impact
To support this approach, we partner with FuturePlus, an innovative platform that provides a clear, structured way to measure and manage our impact.
Through FuturePlus, we assess and track our progress across five key areas:
- Climate
- Environment
- Economic
- Diversity & Inclusion
- Social Impact
This gives us a data-led foundation, helping us understand where we are today, set meaningful goals, and build a long-term roadmap for improvement.
Working in Partnership with Our Brands
As a hotel management company, we operate across a diverse portfolio of properties, each with its own identity, brand standards, and sustainability commitments.
Our TROO Impact strategy is designed to complement and strengthen these existing brand initiatives, not replace them. By aligning with our partners and supporting their sustainability goals, we ensure a consistent, collaborative approach across every property we manage.
It’s about integration, not duplication, working together to deliver meaningful progress that is both practical and achievable.
Sustainability in Practice
Across our portfolio, sustainability is embedded into day-to-day operations as well as long-term planning. From energy-efficient refurbishments and responsible procurement to waste reduction and ethical supplier partnerships, every decision is made with consideration and care.
Our Head of Property & Engineering, Kevin Hobson, plays a key role in this process, ensuring sustainability principles are integrated from initial design through to daily operations. His focus is on practical, long-term solutions that support both performance and responsibility.
A Continuous Journey
Sustainability is not a fixed destination. It is a process of learning, adapting, and improving over time. By combining the structure of FuturePlus with our operational expertise, we are able to hold ourselves accountable while remaining realistic and considered in our approach. Our ambition is not to be the loudest voice, but to be a consistent and responsible one.
Looking Ahead
Our goal remains simple: to create places that people love, places that respect their surroundings, support their communities, and operate with integrity. Doing things properly today ensures we protect what matters tomorrow.
