As our portfolio continues to grow across the UK, creating opportunities for our leaders to come together, share ideas, and strengthen relationships has never been more important. Members of our leadership team recently travelled to Malta for our yearly dedicated leadership retreat focused on strategy, collaboration, personal development, and team building.
The few days provided an opportunity to step away from the pace of day-to-day operations and focus on the bigger picture: how we continue to evolve as a business while remaining true to the values that define TROO Hospitality.
Aligning Our Vision
Throughout the retreat, our team explored the priorities that will shape the next phase of TROO Hospitality’s growth.
Through collaborative workshops, strategic planning sessions, and open discussion, leaders from across the business shared experiences from their respective hotels and departments, identifying opportunities to further strengthen operations, support our teams, and continue delivering exceptional guest experiences across the portfolio.
These conversations are invaluable. While every property has its own identity, our shared culture and commitment to operational excellence remain the common thread that connects every hotel we manage.
Learning from World-Class Leadership
A highlight of the retreat was a motivational leadership session delivered by Jamie Peacock MBE.
Drawing on his experience as one of rugby league’s most respected captains, Jamie shared powerful insights into leadership, resilience, accountability, and the importance of creating high-performing teams. His session reinforced many of the principles that underpin the way we operate at TROO Hospitality: trust, communication, shared purpose, and leading by example.
The discussion encouraged our leaders to reflect not only on how they support operational performance, but also on how they develop the people around them.
Building Stronger Teams
Leadership is about far more than strategy.
Throughout the retreat, the team also took part in a range of activities designed to strengthen relationships outside the workplace. Time spent together away from the office creates opportunities for genuine connection, encouraging collaboration that naturally translates back into our hotels.
As a people-first business, we recognise that investing in our teams extends beyond training programmes and operational meetings. Strong relationships, mutual trust, and open communication create stronger leaders, and ultimately better guest experiences.
Experiencing Malta and Gozo
Alongside the business sessions, the team explored both Malta and the neighbouring island of Gozo, experiencing first-hand the culture, history, and hospitality that make the Maltese Islands such a unique destination.
The visit provided a welcome opportunity to reflect, recharge, and spend quality time together, while reinforcing the importance of understanding different hospitality environments and destinations. These shared experiences continue to strengthen the collaborative culture that sits at the heart of TROO Hospitality.
Looking Ahead
As TROO Hospitality continues to expand its portfolio, our commitment to developing people remains unchanged.
Leadership retreats such as this are not simply about reviewing performance, they are about investing in the people who shape our culture every day. By creating opportunities to learn together, challenge one another, and build stronger relationships, we ensure our leadership team remains aligned around a shared vision for the future.
When our leaders are connected, inspired, and equipped to succeed, our teams thrive, our partnerships grow stronger, and our guests enjoy the exceptional experiences that define every TROO Hospitality property.
The Malta Leadership Retreat was a reminder that while hotels may differ in style, location, and brand, great hospitality will always begin with great people.
